Buick pretty much DID make the Avenir, but in FWD, and they made it smaller, and they called it the LaCrosse. And they got rid of the ugly butt.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Of course they weren’t gonna make it into a RWD full size luxury sedan, that’s what the CT6 is for. Like it or not, GM has learnt their lesson when it comes to brand overlap. Buick is the buffer between Chevy and Cadillac, I don’t expect a fullsize luxury car from them any time soon.

Call me Mr. Blottome Oglethorpe Santa Kookoobananas, but I’d really like GM to try pretending to have that brand differentiation thing in ways other than model slots. In other words, inter-brand differentiation that actually means something through different styling and different image focus. The part where offering the exact same car in five names doesn’t work... fuckin’ duh. That doesn’t mean offering only one car of each kind and if you don’t like the Chevy/Cadillac/Buick in that slot you get to eat shit. It’s okay to have platform shares if different models on the platform have different things to offer.

This should not be a scale of cars with no overlap, because that is dumb.

I kinda agree actually, but my main point was that an A8/S-Class/7-series/XJ/Equus/K900/Qporte/etc. competitor in the Buick lineup wouln’t make sense at all. That’s never been Buick’s thing. Buick’s thing it attainable-ish comfort, not really full on luxury. Proper luxury is Cadillac’s job.

I’d describe the Buick Thing as being “Executive and Sportsman Comfort and Useful Luxury”, unlike the Cadillac Thing which is “Bleeding Edge and Demonstrative Luxury”. RWD plays well into the “Sportsman Comfort” motif - kind of the mid-level Benz or Audi thing. Reserving RWD for only the top of the line is irritating.

Buick = gets paid a lot of money to work and for his professionalism, Cadillac = doesn’t have to work, would be another way to break it down image-wise.

o.O dat front overhang...

Some rough estimating, if those front wheels are 20's that’s ~24' of car in front of the forward edge of the wheel well.

Nothing chews up copious highway miles, like a big comfy Buick. I think the new Lacrosse is quite the looker.

It does come with AWD.

Also, the Avenir did NOT have an ugly butt. You fucking take that back.

When will GM realized that FWD does not say “ hey, I’m a luxury car?” It’s genuinely like they don’t even give a damn about Buick. Oh, and while I’m on the topic, you too Ford/Lincoln!

Edit: While I’m on the topic, the Cascada looks like a convertible jelly bean. There. I said it.
